I'm not sure I like the vertical highlights on the sides. I'm also wondering if I made the highlights too light. That's pretty typical, and the answer is almost always no, they are not too light. If anything, it probably means I need to make the highlights on the rest lighter.
As soon as I saw the first picture, I thought "wow those pants are shiny." So I think something is off with the highlights. What material are the pants supposed to be? Denim, wool, something else?
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right. 'Shiny' happens when you have narrow, bright highlights, which is what was going on there. The pants are supposed to be kinda generi-cotton, or maybe wool...not denim specifically, but definitely not shiny. So I went back with some glazes to broaden the highlights and dull them down. Hopefully I didn't go too far the other direction! I also added some brighter highlights to the vest. If he's wearing anything shiny, it should be that.
