Golden Wizard: Fur, Face, Hat, Leather

I finished off the golden's fur and his face, then moved on to the hat. I was able to also get that done, and then put a base coat on some of the leather pieces.

Next project: Golden Wizard

Next I'm working on another figure from the Dungeons & Doggies line. This is the Golden Retriever wizard, but the client who commissioned these wants him painted like a Brittany Spaniel. Here I have put in the base coat on his fur with the coloring roughed in.

13!

Finally, Zahra is done.

I think she turned out OK. Mostly I'm happy to be done with her. Note to game designers: sculpts like this are lovely, but fragile. Don't use them for your game pieces. Please.

I did manage to finish painting her without breaking anything, but if I do ever play the game with this figure I suspect it will not survive without damage.

Zahra: Gold, base, spear

Almost got Zahra done today, but not quite. Everything on the main figure is finished - the gold bits, her spear, even the base. It has also all been sealed.

I also finished, including sealer, the other part of her headpiece. I decided to wait until her other hand with the whip is painted and then glue them both on at the same time.

I'm also considering trying to fix her lean. I think it's gotten worse, and it's really starting to annoy me. However, what would be involved would be trying to shove a little putty under her foot. Doable, but can be kind of tricky and make things worse. We'll see.

Zahra: Leather, Cloth

Got back to work on Zahra. I've painted the parts that I decided were leather, and then did a base coat on the parts that will be gold.

I was going to attach the other piece of her hat once the hat itself was done, but when I dry fit it in place, it became clear that it would be difficult to get to her arm bands and such with it there. So now, I play to put it on after the gold is done. Her other hand with the whip I'm probably going to do very last - even after the base. I may even do the sealer in stages.

Zahra: Cloth

I didn't have a lot of time to paint tonight, but I made some progress. I've finished the cloth on Zahra. Next will probably be the bronze bits.

Zahra: Skin, Face, Cloth

Today I got back to Zahra. My plan is to try to wrap her up quickly and move on to other things by the weekend. I could skip right to the other things, but she's been half done for too long. Time to finish it.

I finished the highlights on her skin, painted her eyes, and then base coated the various pieces of cloth. There aren't a lot of different areas of color on her, so that should help her go quickly. However, she's very delicate with lots of thin pieces sticking out all over the place. It will be a minor miracle if I get through this without breaking her spear or some other bit.

12!

All finished!

I started out gray with the cloak, then realized it should be brown like her veil or a little darker, and from there it wasn't a big stretch to deciding it should be fur, like the upper part of the coat. So, there she is.

Noblewoman: A Bunch More Stuff

Got in more work on the noblewoman today. I added some warmer browns to the fur, tweaked the eyes a little (which I need to do a bit more of), worked on her belt and the things hanging off of it, and her gown.

I think whatever that diamond shaped piece in front is supposed to be, I'm going to make it purple with gold trim like the rest of her gown. She doesn't need any new colors introduced right now. Similarly, I think her cloak is going to be gray or brown - something neutral.

If things go well, she might be finished tomorrow.

Noblewoman: Face, coat, veil, hat.

I got a good bit of progress in on the noblewoman today. I tried making the turned over part of her coat textured, so it'll be like a fur stole. Still trying to decide if it's working or not.

I think I need to tweak her eyes a little more, too. It took some effort to get them as close to the same size and even height as they are. I thought they looked OK, but based on the pictures I still have some work to do there.

Noblewoman: Starting up

Starting another commission piece. This is a noblewoman from Reaper.

I'm going with olive skin. I'm still debating colors for her; she has many different garments. I'm thinking maybe red for her coat, gold edging. Maybe purple for the dress. I'm not sure yet.
