10!

Finished up the orange pug. Why orange, you ask? It's a gift for a friend. Realism is not necessary for this purpose.

9!

Finished up the bar wench today.

I painted this figure back in 2013...here's a comparison of the older version and the new. The older one is on the left.

And I started on a quick project. Yes, it is indeed a bright orange pug. He got knocked over during the picture taking, and his ear got dinged. I'll have to fix that.

Wench: Vest, Skirt, Apron

Made a fair bit of progress today. The only thing left to paint is her mugs.

Wench: Blouse, Vest

Today I moved on to shading and highlighting her blouse, and then base coated and shaded her vest.

Wench: Hair, Blouse

Got a little bit done today. I put some highlights on her hair, and a base coat on her blouse.

Wench: Face, Hair

I didn't have a lot of time tonight, but I tried to make her skin tone a little ruddier and gave her a flush on the cheeks. I also painted her eyes and base coated the hair. Her face is a little wonky in this picture, but it might be because I stood her at an angle instead of head on. I think that she will look less wonky if she isn't turned to the side a bit.

The flush on her cheeks has hidden the highlight there. I tried putting a pinker highlight on, but it looked off. I may mess with that some more.

Wench: Face, Skin

Next project: a bar wench. Not kidding; the official name of this figure is "Townsfolk: Wench". This is with a basecoat, shading, and highlighting on her skin. I still need to finish detailing her face - give her eyes, maybe eyebrows, and I'd like to put some ruddy in her complexion, probably with a glaze or two. Maybe just on her cheeks, maybe overall. The trick is going to be finding something that's not too red.

Oh, I also cleaned up some of Mary Read's skin where I got other paint on it while doing the hair and bodice. but she pretty much looks the same so I didn't bother with pictures.

Urbicus: Metal

Did shading and highlighting on Urbicus's metals today. TMM is not really my strong suit, though I keep trying. I think when I got to the highlights I was tired and just wanted to be able to call it done. Still like the shield, but the sword is pretty blah and the helm and armored sleeve are at best adequate.

Urbicus: Lots of Stuff

I got a lot done on Urbicus today - his loin cloth, the various leather straps, his glove and the wraps on his foot. I got as far as base coating his metal bits. Other than the skin highlight, I'm happy with the results so far, especially the shield.

Urbicus: Highlighting Skin

Continued on with Urbicus's skin, putting in highlights. Went with a lot of yellow.

Mary: Experimenting. Urbicus: Shading Skin

So I decided to try a different direction with Mary and see about replicating a brocade look from a picture I found. I re-based her bodice and went over some of the texture with other colors. It's terrible!

So I decided to set her aside and think about it for a bit while I switched to Urbicus.

On Urbicus, I did the next round of shadow on his skin.

I'm probably not going to go much darker. Maybe one last darker shade for lining and in the deepest shadow areas, but the use would be very limited.

Mary: Base colors

I added some base coat colors on other parts of Mary. I wanted to get a sense for how it was all going to go together before getting in to shading and highlighting. For now, at least, I'm happy with the results. I'll probably go back to shade and highlight next.

Finished up Cassie today:

With her done, I moved on to a first layer of shading on Urbicus:

Cassie: Clothes, Leather, Bits

Continued on Cassie - shaded and highlighted the green bits, and base coated the leather. My first instinct was to go with a dark brown. I decided not to since there's already a lot of dark on the piece. I'm not sure about the medium brown, but I'm going with it.

Cassie: Clothing

It has been a little while. I was traveling over the weekend to a class with Banshee on color theory. That's going to take some time and effort to digest.

I worked some on Cassie - some of this was last week, but I wasn't able to get pictures up at the time.
