Rocker: Plinth. Aquila: Skin

I realized I needed to paint at least part of the plinth for the rocker before attaching him to it, or I'd have trouble painting parts after. So, I did that, and then glued him on. For good or ill, he's attached now, and I can start working on him in earnest.

I had to give the glue time to set, though, so I worked on Aquilla, doing a base coat on his skin. There's a joint on his raised leg that I should have done some gap filling in, but I didn't. I'm trying to fill in with some sealer, so we'll see how that goes. That trick isn't really meant for irregularities of this size.

Rocker: Bottom Bits

I've been working on the arena the past few days, but it's hard to get decent pictures of. I'll try soon. Today I did get back to the bust a bit. I'm still working on the low parts that will be difficult to impossible to paint once it's attached to the plinth. I think I just need to do the speaker? amp? thing next, and it should be OK to glue him in place. I've also made some color choices. This guy is all about the drama...I think the gloves will be purple. Purple, red, black, and silver will be his colors.

Rocker: Guitar

Finished the guitar body. I need to make some color choices for the guitar's strap and another piece, parts of both of which need to be painted before I can put him on his plinth permanently. I meant to try to get a picture of the back, but forgot. Next time.

Aquila, Rocker

Next projects! First, Aquila, another Arena Rex gladiator.

And, starting on this cyborg rocker guy. He needs a name. I had wanted to get farther on this today, but...yellow. Ug. This is about 6 coats and probably could use one or two more. I'm doing the guitar first because the bottom pieces will be inaccessible once I glue him to his plinth, and I want to glue him to his plinth.

11!

Finished Nadia the Drow today. I'm gonna go with 'not bad'.

Nadia: Hair

Worked on her hair today. It's pretty much done, though I might tweak the edges/placement of some of the shadows.

I need to do shading and a highlight on her headband, then I'll attach her other hand and work on the staff she's holding.

Nadia: Dress Decorations

Started and finished the piping on her dress. Got a base coat on her pendant and earrings. I'll finish those next, then do her hair.

Nadia the Drow: More Dress

More work on the dress tonight. Shaded and highlighted the top sections. Next will be the piping.

Drow: Dress

I spent a few days working on the arena - gap filling, painting the filled gaps, putting on the rest of the column toppers, and starting the ground outside the arena. I don't have pictures, but I'll get some soon.

Today I got back to the drow. Still think she needs a name; she feels like a Nadia to me. Anyway, I got a base coat on the rest of her dress, and shaded the newly blue areas. I'll finish the dress, then do either the piping or her hair.

Drow: Skin, Face

I shaded and highlighted her skin tonight and did the facial details. Not sure about the thighs, happy with the rest. She needs a name.

Drow: Boots, Skin

Got highlights and a bit of shadow on her boots, and base coated her skin. Not sold on the boot highlights. I also need to add a brighter highlight back in on the skirt, but I'll probably wait to do that until I'm working on the rest of her dress.

Drow: Skirt, Base

Finished enough of the lower part of the drow's skirt that I could attach her to her base. Saturated blues are my nemesis; I fight with them every time. Anyway, next time I will highlight the boots, and then start on the skin.

Base: Attached. Drow: Attached.

I finished off that ruined temple base and attached it to its...well, base. I realized too late that I probably should have put the back more toward the edge. I'd originally planned to put some green on it for lichen/moss, but decided I like it without.

I also shaded the inside of the drow's skirt and attached the leg. Doesn't really look that different.

Drow: Boots, Dress. Viking: Primer

Started next projects. Here's the drow that goes with the base from yesterday. I've done drow with red and purple clothing before a few times, and I want to do something different. Didn't have much idea what, picked a jewel tone blue. Already have doubts. I want to get the boots and the inside of the skirt done so I can glue her left leg in place (it's not attached yet), and the bottom of the dress done well enough that I can glue her on to the base before moving on the the rest.

Also got this guy primed and on his base. Not sure when I'm going to get to him, though.

Bases!

I worked on a couple of bases tonight. Went back to the big desert base and added some lining and rough shading around the carvings and in some of the spots between bricks and rocks. I was not super careful with this. Then I did some edge highlights and stippled some of the lighter color on the stone. I like it much better now. Probably should edge the square stones, though.

The areas with the carving ended up looking like there's some other substance there that has worn away. Wasn't was I was intending, but I like it.

Also worked on this. This base will go with a drow figure I'm prepping. The figure will cover most of it. I didn't have a lot of ideas for a scenic base that would be appropriate - she's just not a 'standing on grass' kind of model. So I went with something that isn't trying to be an environment. The figure is going to end up covering a lot of it.

10!

 Finished Khepros today. Yay!

I don't have anything new queued up quite yet; I'm still doing prep on next projects. I might try to get a second figure done this month but maybe not; I want to focus on getting the arena finished since it's so close, and then getting through the prep work for the next things.

I did go back to this base for a big monster that I started like 2 months ago:

I'm going for a sort of sandstone look. I was hoping for smaller stipples, but I like the way this turned out. I think I'm going to do some targeted shading and then a targeted final highlight on edges and such. Then I will deal with the patches of dirt/moss/lichen.

Khepros: Now, with shield!

Finished off the metals on Khepros and attached his shield. Got a start on the base. Just have to finish off the base and he'll be done!

Khepros: Metals

Got a base coat on all Khepros's metals today. I originally started out with everything bronze, but that was a whole lot of bronze. I switched the blade to steel to match other figures in the group, and then switched the helmet as well because it was still a lot of gold on the figure and the helmet has a more Roman design (in my very inexpert estimation). There is a down side to that, in that the steel doesn't stand out as well against the blue feathers.

I think I should be able to finish him this week.
