Finished the first commission piece I was working on. Tonight I got back to Goremaw. I have a lot of things I'd like to work on, but I think I'm going to try to power through this guy and get him done in the next few days. It'll take a while because there's a lot of him, but all the decisions have been made so it should just be a matter of doing it.

Spiked Columns
So tonight I finished painting these.
I built them! From scratch! And they aren't terrible!
Hey, take what wins you can. ;)

Interlude: Statues (9!)
So while I am socially distancing, I am playing a game of Arena Rex remotely with a friend of mine. I'm tracking the map, and we're texting moves and rolls back and forth. I just drew hazards in to the map when we started, but I decided I'd take the opportunity to make some actual terrain pieces for it.
These are statues from the Reaper Bones 4 kickstarter. I don't think they've been released yet.
They were a quick paint - I started with the airbrush, then finished it off with a wash, some detailing of the cracks, and a bit of a drybrush to pick out the edges. It's gaming terrain, so it doesn't have to be super artistic. It's not what I was picturing, but I took advantage of some happy accidents and I'm reasonably happy with the result.
The map also includes some spiked columns, so I started on those. A building project! I wanted to work on building things this year. Here's my start.
It's just foam with some wood grain traced in and then ends of toothpicks for the spikes. So, a simple building project, but you gotta start somewhere.

More Goremaw
I've mostly been working on a commission piece for the last few days, but today I didn't have the energy to work on something I would need to be careful with. I still wanted to paint, so I went back to Goremaw. I highlighted the first level of plates back from his head, and then base coated the spike thingies.
The spikes are going to need some highlights. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with this color scheme. I'm just experimenting/screwing around with it, but I like it.

Back to Goremaw
So, in the name of finishing off projects I've started in the past few months, I got back to Goremaw today.
I wanted to use a darker purple between the ridges, and get rid of the orange I'd tried to airbrush on. To do that, it was back to the airbrush. I went in with a darker purple, and brought that color out a little farther on the ridges. Then I did another coat of the teal to cover up the orange and clean up where I got too much purple.
I also base coated the belly panel in purple. I'd wanted to use a different color there than I did on the mouth, but I didn't have any better ideas, so I went with that.
After I was done with all the airbrush stuff, I went in by hand and did highlighting on the belly panel, added the orange stripe on a couple of the back plates, and put some purple shading in the grooves.
Next, I think I'm going to do highlights on the panels where I have the orange and the rest of the area around his mouth. I'd like to finish those completely, so that I can see how it's going to look all done. Then I'll continue going on down along the body with the orange stripe, shading, and highlights.

7!
Finished up the mousling today.
This weekend I'm planning to get back to the display base for the amazons, and also revisit the giant worm. I've also had a commission piece come in, so I will start working on that in the next couple days. Of course, that means I won't have posts for that piece, so things may be a bit slow for the next week or two.

Mousling: Dress, scarf
Continued on with the mousling. Put highlights on her dress, and started her scarf and apron thing. They've got a base coat and a shadow. There's no highlights on there yet, that blue paint is just pretty glossy.

Mousling: Dress
I didn't have a ton of time today, but I did get a little work in on the mousling's dress.
The shading isn't super smooth, but I don't much care on this figure. This is a quick paint.

Interlude: Mousling
I wasn't feeling up to working on anything serious tonight, so I pulled this mousling out of my box of pre-primed stuff. I'm not trying to make it great, it's just something small to work on while I don't feel well.

6!
Finished up the amazon today.
Here's the group of all four together:
I want to build a display base for them. I think I've got the layout figured out, but I want some ruined statuary and pillars to add to the base. I'm experimenting with making the style of pillar that's on the base of the archer.
They're not terrible, but it's definitely something I need to keep working on.
