I don't like doing hair. It's like eyes; you can spend forever futzing with it, going back and forth with how much highlight and how bright, too much intermediate lighter tones and then not enough. Anyway, I worked on highlights on her hair tonight. I thought I was fine with it, but now I think I need to bring up the final highlight; it's theoretically white but doesn't look it.
Put a round of highlight on the demon's hair. Lots of tweaking to go yet.
Also started my next gladiator. This is Daphne. I based and shaded her skin tonight.
Did her eyes, and then base coated the hair and did her eyebrows. The paint I picked for the hair didn't cover well and needed a number of coats to cover well. I'm kinda regretting using shading colors on her skin that are so desaturated. But I'm pretty happy with the eyes.
With her arm in place, I painted the arm band and then went on to her face. Usually I get all the skin highlighted all the way before doing face details, but I really wanted to see her face complete, so I did the highlights on her face and then started face details. Obviously, it's not done yet.
I'm using Army Painter Fanatic paints for the first time on this model, and so far I don't love them. They have a glossier finish than I like, and when I thinned them for applying highlights and glazing transitions they got chalky real fast. It might be a matter of learning how to work with them so I haven't given up yet.
Got highlights on her bra so that I could glue on her arm, which I did right after getting these pictures. Pretty happy with the result. Question wearing a metal bra, but here we are.
I based and shaded the bra, so I can get that done and glue her arm on. I'm not real thrilled with how dark it is, so I'll probably go heavy on the next couple lighter colors.
Back to the demon. I got shading on her skin. I would normally do the highlights on her skin now, but I might stop and do her bra instead so I can glue her arm on and highlight the arm with the rest of her.
