Today I base coated the steel bits on Kalee - her sword, spikes, and other bits.

Kalee: Boots & Other Leather Bits
Finished off another commission piece, so now I'm back to Kalee. I'm going to finish her before moving on to anything else, I think. I put highlights on the boots and straps and leather bits. Next will be the silver metals - the blade, and other random bits on her bracers and whatnot.

Kalee: Armor
I've been away for a while, working on commissions. Today was a brief stop between commission projects - I was doing prep and cleanup on the next one, so it needs to sit for a while for putty to cure before I can start with paint. Probably tomorrow I will be back on that piece, and this blog will go quiet for a while again.
But in the meantime, I worked on Kalee. I've highlighted her armor and put some shadow on the leather bits. It looks a little weird because I placed the highlights for the armor for a overhead front source, but the lighting in the light booth is more from the sides, so the painted highlights and the reflections from the metal flake are fighting.
There's a reason NMM photographs better.
Anyway, she's mostly done. I need to finish the leather, do the steel bits, then her shield and the base. So, it's still a few sessions of work.

6!
Finished up the demon today. For a fairly quick paint, I'm pretty happy with the result.
I also got back to Kalee, adding a second round of shading to her armor.

Demon: The Rest
Well, most of the rest anyway. I didn't quite get her finished - the base still needs to be painted. But she's mostly there.

Demon: Horns, Cloak
I continued on with the demon lady I started working on while I was away. I finished the horns and started the robe and belt. I'm hoping to finish her tomorrow.
I'm starting to feel a little iffy about the color choices. She's on a jungle base which will have a fair bit of green on it. I can and will also bring in some of the colors from the figure itself, particularly the purples, but I am a bit concerned it'll be a bit much. I'm also not sure I love the purple with the reddish skin tone. However, I need to get her done and move on to other things, so I'm probably going to go with it either way.

Workshop!
Last weekend I was at a two-day workshop taught by Sergio Calvo. We had a great time, and the workshop was really useful, though it will take some time and effort to figure out how to integrate what he was teaching into my process.
Here's the class mini. There's a glazing step he taught us that hasn't been applied to Mr. Oni here.
I painted this sorceress after the workshop to try practicing what was taught. Clearly, I need more practice. She also got dinged up on the way home.
And lastly, this is something I was working on while I was travelling. No new techniques or anything here. I'm probably going to try to get her finished up quick before going back to other stuff.
