I didn't get that much done today, just a base coat on his tunic. It does help give a better sense of what the overall look will be, though.

Pants
So, I cleaned up that cheek a little, made the eyebrows a bit thicker, and finished off his pants. I'm much happier with the face now. Less certain about the pants.

Skin
Worked on the skin/face for the warrior. I need to work on that right cheek a little; it's fighting me. I may also need to thicken up the eyebrows a bit.

Not-A-Jedi
Next new project. I'm going to try to get this done by Origins. This is Mystic Warrior Kev (who isn't really a Jedi, promise!) from Hasslefree. Just base coated a couple areas.

Staff and Gems
Did the highlights on the wood parts of the staff and wand, did his gems (pretty roughly), and base coated the scroll.
Also got some brighter daylight balanced bulbs for my photo setup. Much better, I think. The other thing that was causing problems photographic this guy is the great depth from front to back - his face is set forward, and the staff set back. Depth of field was an issue. So, I turned him a little to get a flatter plane. It's more of a side angle than front, but it'll do.
Next will be finishing the scroll. Then all that's left is the metal bits. I'm hoping to finish him next time.

Feathers
Shaded and highlighted the purple very quickly. Base coated the sticks, including his staff. He's coming along. Tomorrow should be finishing the staff and wand and doing the parchment.

Leather and feathers
Finished the lizard man's leather bits and base coated his feather cowl and the purple...let's go with sash. Since this guy's for gaming, I'm trying to keep moving through things quickly and as such didn't make things as smooth as they could possibly be.

Not a good camera day.
But I made a little progress. That's a base coat on the leather bits. I also did his toe nails because leaving them white was bothering me, and there was no reason not to. Next will be shading those leather bits. He's actually moving along faster than I was expecting.

Back to the lizard
I think his crest and face are done. Next will be the wrappings and such, and then those feathers around his neck.

Wizard done!
He doesn't go on the count because he's not mine, but he's finished. I cleaned up the browns a bit, finished the fiddly bits, and his base. I'm fairly pleased; hopefully the guy playing the character will be too.

Moving along.
More progress on the wizard. He just has a few fiddly bits and the base left. I think maybe I should lighten up the boots and gloves a bit, though the color is closer to the color of his robe in the pictures than it is in person.

Still messing with the camera.
Put back my daylight balanced bulbs today...promptly got camera shake, so my pictures are fuzzy today. Going to have to get brighter daylight bulbs or find a way to get a tripod in there.
I worked on the wizard today, finishing off his robes. I upped the highlight on the red/brown a bit, did the blue parts including shading and highlights, and put the beige detail bands on. This is a Bones figure, so the detail on that robe border is not super sharp in some places.

Still messing with lighting
I meant to get higher wattage daylight bulbs today. I failed, so my lighting is still off in color. I took it as an opportunity to experiment with adjusting color balance in software.
Here's the wizard. Shaded and highlighted his robes. I kinda feel like there should be more in the highlights, but I'm going to see how it looks when some of the rest is filled in.
Base coated the lizard's crest and scales.

Farther along.
Did get some stuff today in between other things.
I also tried putting some higher wattage bulbs in the lamps in my photo set up to try to account for the light lost because of the diffuser. No good - It didn't light the figures enough to increase my shutter speed appreciably, and it's a much warmer light. I don't care for the look. So, next time I'll go back to my original bulbs.
Anyway, the wizard. Did his hair. Also looked at the painted piece on Reaper's site for a guide on what bits of cloth belong to other bits of cloth, and saw he's got fingerless gloves. I looked at the mini, and sure enough...fingerless gloves. So I painted in his fingertips, too. Also base coated his robes.

Lizards and Wizards
Got some new photo gear today - a light tent. It diffuses light so you get nice, evenly lit shots with no shadows. The down side is that it also reduces the amount of light, which means I was shooting at lower shutter speeds and had to worry about camera shake. I have a tripod I can use, but space is an issue there. I also have brighter light bulbs. We'll see if the tent helps with my picture quality.
Remember this guy? I started him months ago. He's next on my list of unfinished things to get finished. I'd put the base coat on his skin previously. Tonight I shaded it.
I also started this piece, which is a gaming mini for a friend in my husband's D&D group. His face and skin are done. The left side of his face has a mold line I tried to trim away, but getting in there with my blade was tricky. I'll see how much I can smooth it out with paint, but the dude may have some scarring when it's all done.

19! (Now that's what I call a campfire!*)
Flame color test complete, and I'm pretty happy with the colors.
I think it's really cool that you can get a camp fire figure. Don't know that I'll use it much, but it's still cool that there is one.

Busy couple days...
...but not with painting. Still, I got a little time in on the brushes tonight. I'm doing this campfire piece to experiment with some flame colors. I've done fire before, but made it too bright. So, this is some (somewhat) more muted fire colors.
I see a couple places I have to clean up. Also, that's just the base coat on the fire. I need to put the oranges and reds in.

18!
So, I finished off the female sniper from the group of marines I was working on a while back (remember them?). She's about the same quality as the rest of them, so pretty rough.
And some sculpting I did while at Reaper Con. First, flame. I've still got a lot of work to do in this. On the flat bits, I'm trying to get the shapes right.
And a tree. I only textured the bottom half.
After working on the tree, I had a bunch of putty left and was told to 'do something with it'. So I went for cobblestones. Worked on it a little, then had to stop for dinner.
While I'm thinking about it, here's some other stuff I worked on. This is the practice freehand for Maria's tattoos.
